Private jet on runway at sunset — Jetvice charter cost guide 2026

"How much does it cost to charter a private jet?" is the first question almost every client asks us — and the honest answer is: it depends on the aircraft, the route, and the timing. In this 2026 guide, we break down real hourly rates, typical route prices, and the fees most brokers won't show you upfront.

At Jetvice, we're a pilot-run charter broker working only with ARGUS Platinum and Wyvern Wingman-rated operators. What follows are real market rates we quote every week.

The Short Answer

Chartering a private jet in 2026 typically costs between €3,000 and €22,000 per flight hour, depending on the aircraft category. A short European hop in a light jet starts around €10,000–€18,000 all-in. A transatlantic flight in an ultra-long-range jet can run €90,000–€140,000.

But hourly rate alone doesn't tell the full story. Let's break it down.

What's Actually Inside the Price

When Jetvice quotes you €18,000 for an Amsterdam–Ibiza light jet, here's what that typically covers:

  • Aircraft block hours — the flight time plus taxi

  • Crew costs — pilots, cabin crew if applicable

  • Fuel — often a separate fuel surcharge line

  • Landing & handling fees — varies wildly (Ibiza in July is not Ibiza in February)

  • Catering — standard catering included; premium on request

  • International handling fees — for non-Schengen or long-haul flights

  • VAT — applicable on EU intra-community flights for private purposes

Hidden Costs Most Brokers Won't Flag

This is where clients get surprised. We don't play this game, but you should know what to ask:

Positioning legs (ferry flights). If the aircraft isn't based at your departure airport, someone pays to fly it there empty. Sometimes it's priced in, sometimes added later.

Overnight fees. If the crew stays with the aircraft overnight away from base — typically €1,500–€3,500 per night depending on location.

De-icing. In winter, €500–€4,000 depending on the airport and aircraft size.

Peak-day surcharges. New Year's Eve in St. Moritz, Monaco GP weekend, Cannes Film Festival — operators add 10–30%.

Catering upgrades. Standard catering is usually included. Michelin-level catering or specific wines is extra.

Ground transport. Not part of the charter unless arranged.

How to Pay Less (Without Sacrificing Safety)

Three legitimate ways to save real money:

1. Empty Leg Flights — Save Up to 75%

When an aircraft has to reposition empty after dropping off a client, operators sell that leg at a steep discount. Same aircraft, same safety standards, often 40–75% off the standard charter price. The catch: you fly their date, time and route.

2. Right-Size the Aircraft

You don't need a Gulfstream G650 to fly four people from London to Ibiza. A Phenom 300 does the same trip at roughly a third of the cost. A good broker will push back on over-spec'ing.

3. Be Flexible with Airports

Flying into Cannes-Mandelieu (LFMD) vs. Nice (LFMN)? Sometimes the cheaper airport is 20 minutes further by car and €3,000–€5,000 less in charter cost.

What Doesn't Save Money (And Isn't Worth It)

  • Cheap quotes from non-rated operators. We don't charter outside ARGUS Platinum and Wyvern Wingman-rated operators. If a quote looks 20% below market, there's usually a safety, insurance or experience reason.

  • Jet cards for occasional use. Jet cards make sense above ~50 hours/year. Below that, on-demand charter is almost always cheaper.

  • Fractional ownership for low utilisation. The breakeven vs. on-demand charter is typically around 75–150 hours per year.

Frequently Asked Questions

An empty leg occurs when a private jet needs to reposition, flying empty to pick up the next client or return home after a one-way trip. Operators offer these seats at a discount rather than fly empty. You get the full private jet experience at a fraction of the cost.
Savings typically range from 50% to 75% compared to a standard one-way charter. The discount depends on the route, aircraft type and how last-minute the flight is. Very last-minute empty legs can offer even greater savings.
Empty legs are fixed by the original charter booking. However, Jetvice can often adjust departure times slightly or find alternative matching routes. Contact us on WhatsApp and we will explore all available options for you.
Absolutely. Empty legs use the exact same aircraft, crew and safety standards as any private charter. All operators in our network hold valid air operator certificates and comply with international aviation regulations.
Send us a WhatsApp message with the route you are interested in. Our team is available 24/7 and will confirm availability, send aircraft details and handle everything. No memberships, no hidden fees.
